CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+The CompTIA A+ certification is one of the most highly regarded and in-demand certifications in IT. It is the foundation for almost all other career tracks and certifications from DBA to Network Admin to Developer. The A+ gives the student a firm understanding of how a personal computer works and what can go wrong at both the hardware and the operating system levels. Students learn practical troubleshooting and repair at a level equivalent to about 6 months of on-the-job experience. This is not an easy exam and students are well advised to set aside a significant amount of time for study and practice outside of the allotted course time.

Why train with us:

  • Expert certified instructors: We don’t do this as a side job
  • Continental breakfast or snacks: We all gotta eat
  • Free training consultation: Don’t waste time or money
  • Free practice exams: practice practice practice
  • Hands-on experience: We are the ONLY training program housed in a working PC repair business
  • Clinical Labs: One day clinical with PC Doodle

Students are expected to have a reasonable proficiency with the computer at least equivalent to the IC3 certification. Students must have the patience and discipline to systematically troubleshoot complex problems and see the work through to completion. There is a good deal of reading and rote memorization expected and students will do well who do additional reading and research beyond what is given in the book

CompTIA has recently released a new certificate designed to be a pathway to A+. The new Strata certificates are a good way to prepare for the A+ and Network+ certifications while adding yet another credential to your resume. SawyerTraining will also be providing training on Strata, please contact us for details.

There are two exams under the 2009 version:

  • 220-701 for CompTIA A+ Essentials
  • 220-702 for CompTIA A+ Practical Application

Exams are 100 questions and 90 minutes each. Both exams are required for certification.
